You’re New Here? Read This — You may have arrived here from a site or place offering visual works via proxri. Or maybe someone told you about this. Or maybe a visual work you received or viewed was accompanied by a print or PDF which linked here. This page is a guide which explains what the kinds of rewards known as proxri are, as well as why and how to use proxri with visual works. Some other motivations for using this sharing approach are presented at Sharing Visual Works in a Connected World. To explain the use of proxri with visual works, this page can be linked to by any person or organization. Thanks!
Introduction
Our connectedness via technology allows rewards that relate. If certain information is attached to visual works, we can relate to and reward creators no matter how we access or get their works. And, connectedness allows rewards to relate to the enjoyments, benefits, people, and circumstances in the proximity of the works. Such rewards are called ProxRewards, or just proxri for short. To learn about and benefit from using proxri in many kinds of situations, visit proxri.org. Below you’ll find more about the process of using proxri for visual works.
Enable other people to use this proxri approach too. There’s more below, but here are some key points: When you get visual works (art, photography, design, illustration, etc.) available via proxri, if the works did not come with the Rewards That Relate guide PDF linked to at the top of this page, then download it there (or right here: Rewards that Relate — Visual Works and Proxri). Then, make sure that the Rewards That Relate guide PDF, as well as a letter included with the guide (called Sharing Visual Works in a Connected World) both travel along with the digital and/or physical visual works (including prints from digital files). The Rewards That Relate guide PDF has the same information as this page. Thanks for making more of our connectedness!

Viewing Visual Works Available as Digital Files
Your viewing options may vary with the file type or visual work, which includes art, photography, design, illustration, etc.
Displaying Digitally — On your device, digital frame, etc., move the file to the appropriate place and choose it.
Printing — Use a color printer with photo paper for best results. For some visual works, black and white laser prints may also look good, or interesting. Results may vary by printer. Also, copy/print shops may make prints if you provide the files for both this page and the visual work. Some larger visual works may require cuts, assembly, etc.
Hanging Your Print — Options:
1) Tacks or Pins – Hang your print with a tack or small pins.
2) Binder Clips – A small binder clip makes it easy to change prints frequently. Hang the clip on a nail or tack.
3) Pegboard – Hanging pegboard on a wall lets you easily rearrange and change prints. First hang the prints from binder clips. Then hang the clips on pegs that have hooks. Pegboard may come in white, black, colors, and brown.
4) Picture Frames – You can use pre-assembled picture frames with an easily removable back or front for swapping out prints. Some frame types also have stands on the back, for placing them on a table.
Requested of You
1) So other people know about rewards that relate, viewing options, how to proxri, and related details, please keep a print of this page available or near the physical or printed work, and a digital copy of this page with the digital file of the work.
2) Please do not remove the proxri notice telling people how to proxri the creator of the work. This notice might be on or below the visual work, and in a digital file and filename. Example: “Proxri via [creator’s website, social handle, etc.]”
3) No matter how you access or get a visual work, whether it’s a digital file, a print, or a physical visual work, please honor the Proxri Deal below. The Proxri Deal applies whether you use the visual work for business, personal, or other purposes.
How to Proxri — the Proxri Deal
The word proxri (pronounced prox’ree) is short for one or more ProxRewards, which are rewards made with the proximity in mind. Briefly, here’s how this works: You consider your enjoyment and benefits from the work, your circumstances, the creator’s circumstances, and some related people and circumstances, and then proxri as appropriate. Proxri may include money, things, services, relationships, actions, etc. Below is more about the process.
First, consider the proximity of the situation, as follows:
1) Consider your enjoyment and benefits. Do you like or enjoy the visual work? Does it help you and/or engage you? Does it benefit your surroundings, your business, your organization, and/or your life?
2) Consider your circumstances. Are you able to reward (financially and/or non-financially) the creator?
3) Consider the creator’s circumstances. How? Go to the location in the creator’s proxri notice (example: “Proxri via [creator’s website, social handle, etc.]”), and there they should share or link to something about their circumstances.
4) Consider the people who made you more aware of the creator’s work, as well as people who helped you get the work, print, and/or digital file. Consider their circumstances as well, as you may want to proxri them somehow too.
5) Consider the circumstances of the wider context beyond points one through four above.
Then, the next step is to proxri:
If, based on the above, you want to proxri the creator of the visual work, then do so. Check the proxri notice for where and how to proxri (example notice: “Proxri via [creator’s website, social handle, etc.]”). This notice might be on or below the visual work, and in a digital file and filename. For joint works, there may be multiple creators. If you want to proxri those who helped bring this work into your life, and/or the wider context related to this work, do that too.
What You Can Do With Visual Works Available via Proxri
If you honor the requests in the “Requested of You” section above, you can download, copy, print, use, share, modify, publish, and distribute a visual work available via proxri. This does not include selling the work, although if you share, publish or distribute the work, you may get proxri (see step four in “How to Proxri…” above). If you modify the work, use it in a work, or base similar works on it, then show a proxri notice for the original creator (see example in “Requested of You” above, and also comply with the first item there). The word “you” here means any person or entity, including but not limited to, businesses, organizations, and artificial intelligence. For more, see proxri.org.
Spread the Practice of Rewarding With Proxri
How? First, tell people. Second, honor the three requests in “Requested of You” above. Third, to learn more and use proxri, as well as find other people and organizations doing so too, visit the website proxri.org. There you’ll also find the most current version of this page, other guides, and formats for other media and content. Fourth, for creating the proxri process (which is part of the ProxThink Growth Model), proxri ProxThink via the proxri links at proxthink.com.
