Sharing Visual Works in a Connected World

NOTE — Below is the text of a letter I’m starting to include with the guide for visual works called Rewards That Relate — How To Use Proxri (Visual Works). That guide has an introduction focused on the technical feasibility and benefits of the approach described in the guide. In contrast, this letter mentions the logic and social dynamics of sharing visual works in a connected world, and how the guide addresses problems created by these issues. This letter, like the guide, should also travel along with visual works that are available via proxri.

Hello,

With this visual work, you get a sharing approach for a connected world.

In a connected world, especially for things that are easily shared, does it make sense to not share them? Of course not. That’s why people spread and share photos, art, images, music, stories, text, ideas, information, and more.

But if we get value or benefit from these shared things, does it make sense to not consider the well-being and welfare of the people who created these shared things, how we received them, and the context? Of course not. However, do we have approaches for such considerations, for taking related action, and for enjoying the process? No, we don’t really, which is a challenge.

I’ve taken up this challenge. With this visual work, you can use the approach I’ve created to meet the challenge of easily-shared things. I didn’t create this just for me. I created it, and I’m proposing it, for you and for everyone who creates, shares, and receives things that are easily shared.

How can you explore, use, and enjoy this sharing approach? The folder which contains this visual work should include this letter and a PDF with a filename that begins with “2-rewards-that-relate.” This one-page “Rewards That Relate …” PDF will explain this proximity-oriented sharing approach. If you don’t have that PDF, you can read the text and access the PDF via this address:
proxri.org/visual-works-and-proxri

To benefit in other ways from this approach, which is part of the proximity thinking (ProxThink) framework I created for creating, collaborating, and living in a connected world, visit proxri.org. In addition, you also likely create things that are easily shared, right? If true, I recommend you visit this address:

Please keep this letter with the files for the visual work. For how to display and print this visual work, and begin exploring, using, and enjoying this approach, the “Rewards That Relate …” PDF is your guide.

What makes people feel alive, excited, vital and engaged? I call it sustainable variety, or SustaVariety for short. I've created a number of projects to create more SustaVariety for myself and others. These projects use the proximity thinking (ProxThink) framework for creating, collaborating, and living that I created. I invite you to join me in some adventures in creating sustainable variety at loughry.com.
